In ihrer ersten Einzelausstellung no name for my desire zeigt die Berliner Künstlerin Kaj Osteroth im Projektraum uqbar eine Reihe von Arbeiten aus dem Jahr 2014. Die figurativen Gemälde sind während eines Arbeitsaufenthalt im Jahr 2014 in den Bag Factory KünstlerInnen-Studios in Johannesburg entstanden, haben aber zum Teil erst vor kurzem ihre letzte Schicht erhalten. In den Arbeiten reflektiert die Künstlerin Themen wie Freundinnenschaft, Gruppendynamik und Solidaritätsbestrebungen. Gleichzeitig konfrontieren die Bilder die BetrachterInnen mit komplexen zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen und thematisieren Ohnmacht und Scheitern gelebter Vielfalt.
Die ausgestellten Arbeiten bauen auf einen feministischen Ansatz und ein queer-feministisches Bewusstsein von Raum und Zeit auf, das auch die Zusammenarbeit Osteroths mit der Künstlerin Lydia Hamann bestimmt. Das Künstlerinnen-Kollektiv arbeitet seit 2007 zusammen. Die Methode des dialogischen Malens, welche die beiden für sich entwickelt haben, ist gleichzeitig künstlerische Praxis und radikale Geste. Neben Fragen nach Bewunderung, Empowerment und Repräsentation nimmt die Thematisierung von Freundinnenschaft als eine Möglichkeit sogenannter Care-Arbeit einen bedeutenden Stellenwert in der Zusammenarbeit des Kollektivs ein - sowohl als Bildgegenstand wie auch in direkter Aushandlung.

In her first solo exhibition no name for my desire Berlin based artist Kaj Osteroth shows a series of works from 2014 at the project space uqbar. The figurative paintings have mainly been created in Johannesburg in 2014 during a residence at the Bag Factory Artists´ Studios, but only recently have found their final layer. With these works the artist reflects themes such as friendship, group dynamics and desires of solidarity. At the same time, the paintings confront the viewer with complex interpersonal relationships and address impotence and failure of Diversity in Practice.
The works are based on a feminist approach and a queer-feminist awareness of space and time, which also determines Osteroths cooperation with artist Lydia Hamann. The artist collective works together since of 2007. The commonly developed method of dialogical painting is artistic practice and radical gesture at the same time. In addition to questions of admiration, empowerment, and representation, looking at friendship as a way of so-called care work is of great importance in their cooperation - both as subject matter as well as in direct negotiation.
